To enhance the accessibility of the Haut-Rhin Department, the Conseil Général has become involved in the TGV-East and Rhine-Rhône projects. It is playing a part in the development of public transport (Trams, etc.) and river transport. It has also committed itself to supporting the development of high-speed broadband services.

The Conseil Général carries out developments in the departmental road network and is involved in the development of national trunk roads and local highway maintenance. For the sake of everyone’s safety it monitors the good repair of highways (repair of road surfaces, etc.)

More than 30,000 school children use public transport. The Department is responsible for the management and financing of school transport. Up to age 16, it offers free carriage for the daily journey and thereafter contributes 65% of the cost.
