This project, consisting of a cross-border geographical information system under the ægis of the Upper Rhine conference, involves creating a shared geographical database that aims to provide and promote a shared vision for the development of the Upper Rhine area. It has recently become possible to produce detailed maps that focus on particular themes by bringing together data from the three bordering countries (France, Germany and Switzerland).



The web site for this project is not only an independent source of information but is also a truly practical resource, thanks to its map library and its ability to facilitate cataloguing and dissemination of geographical data.

The Cartography Expert Group of the Upper Rhine Conference, which is responsible for this web site, is gradually adding to it and enriching it by regularly including new information and other cartographical data.
